Announcements / Spring Cleaning - Mod apps and other posts
« on: April 11, 2017, 05:55:34 PM »
In order to make way for the next iteration of the server, I've closed/archived all the old stuff. There were actually many more posts before this but they were permanently deleted. I'm a fan of preservation personally so I decided we shouldn't take that route this time.
  • If you applied for staff it was closed, just make a new one if you still wish to apply. You can even use your old application if you wish, though I would advise to spruce it up at least a bit.
  • All the old posts that I found that were irrelevant  I have moved to the new 'Archive' section. You can view the posts but no new replies are allowed.

Get hyped!

Announcements / Factions gets all 1.11 features!
« on: December 03, 2016, 03:20:50 PM »
As you may know, before you could only connect with version 1.11. None of it's features were usable - until now!
I searched for woodland mansions but could only find one outside the world border, therefore it has been expanded. It is now 30k blocks wide, this will apply to the nether soon.
I've been working on this all day today, tell me if there are any problems to correct.

Next up on the agenda after correcting any bugs is a remake of the creative server, stay tuned.

Announcements / What did you like/dislike about this server?
« on: November 24, 2016, 03:35:47 PM »
I want to gauge player interest in certain areas, and what better way to do that than asking the players themselves! Of course, this doesn't necessarily have to mean what you like or dislike now, it could mean what you enjoyed about the server in the past.

I'm leaving this question pretty open ended, feel free to give some criticism, praise, stories, anything! I'll be using the results of this to make a strallpoll on how to revitalize the server(s). Minecraft servers have changed a lot and we need to get back on track!

Might add to this post later as I wrote it initially pretty off-the-cuff, I will list said changes below if any...

Announcements / Partial Support for 1.11
« on: November 15, 2016, 09:07:25 AM »
I have updated the proxy, hub server, and plot server to be connectable with 1.11! This doesn't mean it has 1.11 blocks and items however.

Full 1.11 support will be coming to factions (with 1.9-1.10 backwards compatibility) is coming hopefully on Friday...

Announcements / Speedy Speed Website
« on: September 23, 2016, 11:38:33 PM »
I've added InstantClick to the website so now page loads should be extremely fast! Tell me if you encounter any issues like parts of the page not loading, etc.

Also, yes: I've been working on the server here and there but I've been busy.
I'm sure you all know how it is this time of year. Once everything is going smoothly and I have spare time I will update the server, for now sit tight.

Announcements / New gamemode? New gamemode.
« on: August 14, 2016, 07:23:35 AM »
That's right, soon to come is a gamemode exclusive to The CakeFace! Behold, Quake 3 in Minecraft!

Next up is KOTH (capture points) for factions and a much requested rework of the creative server!

Announcements / Social Synchronization and more to come...
« on: August 13, 2016, 11:14:23 PM »
If all goes well, this message will not only be on the website but links will also appear on all our social pages. Speaking of, have you checked them out yet?
But wait, there's more!
I plan to make some updates to the server soon, it should help us retain more players and make it a better experience for everyone. Stay tuned...

So here's a quick announcement that may be important to those playing on the latest versions, there is currently an issue with the hub server where your game will crash on join.
The simple and easy fix is this -
  • To connect to factions use
  • To connect to creative use
A permanent fix will be coming further down the pipeline. Another feature that is temporarily disabled is using /hub on factions, again we will try to fix it ASAP.

Thanks for your patience.

Announcements / The server is opening...

We've got about 35 minutes until launch, apologies for not making that clear enough. Get hyped!

Announcements / Post-Eula Rank Changes
« on: May 30, 2016, 09:22:46 PM »
Alrighty, we've got one more announcement before the server goes live. This time it's regarding the server ranks and in general how we're going to be monetizing to keep the server running.

Before, we had the approach of you buy it and you get the benefits. With the EULA we cannot offer these types of benefits - ones that are exclusive to the player unless they are purely cosmetic. We will be heading towards a 'buying benefits everyone' route that will overall improve the server the more people participate.
To be fair, we've haven't followed the EULA until now - but recently mojang's legal team has been cracking down on servers that don't and blacklisting them. This means you cannot connect without a modded client. If that happens, we lose a lot of our playerbase and we're dead in the water.

So what's leaving?
  • /ptime and /pweather removed for all donor ranks (source)
  • Pets will be allowed on all servers - but only in certain areas. For instance, you will currently only be able to have pets in the faction's spawn, since riding them elsewhere would give an unfair advantage. (We're looking for a way to be more lenient on this)
  • Silkspawners are disabled for now, eventually we'll either ditch this feature completely or find a way to give it to everybody at a time, therefore making it eula compliant.
  • Crafting spawners is disabled - not only because it was against the eula but it was kind of overpowered and broken.
  • Keeping XP  gets the same fate as silkspawners - temporarily disabled.
  • Additional homes and plots will not be available to buy with real money - perhaps it will make a return buyable with in-game currency.
  • Same goes for the command /feed - it is not eula-compliant to have bundled with a rank, so it goes for now.
  • /workbench and /enderchest are not to be rank exclusive commands.
  • No VIP room - sorry.

Now I know you may ask yourself: "Well then, what's the point? You pretty much got rid of all the features that made the ranks worth buying in the first place." and while this may be true it isn't our fault. Mojang implemented these changes for better and for worse: Better so that young children can't max out their parent's credit card buying stuff on server for a block building game. Worse for small-medium sized servers as it will be harder to pay the bills effectively.

We will completely rework ranks and give them new features - that much is for sure. However as said previously - it will be for the betterment of the server as a whole. For example, having a player with a paid rank in the server gives you extra mcmmo xp. Or the money can go towards features that everyone can experience - like new servers.

All this is in the pipeline and most likely will not be ready on the launch date in 2 days - but I wanted to let you guys know in advance so you wouldn't freak out once it does happen.
If you have any questions drop them in this topic and I will do my best to answer them. Thanks for supporting us through another phase of the server - the 2 year anniversary launch date is sooner than ever.

Announcements / The server's not dead, at least not yet.
« on: February 19, 2016, 04:01:51 PM »
So... long time no see? Here is some progress on the factions spawn!

Progress is in small increments but thankfully we're getting stuff done.
Hopefully a launch by the end of Febuary? We'll see I guess.

Announcements / Wow, much social.

Hey everyone!

So, I realize the RSS feed or just flat out checking the website on occasion isn't very convenient for most people, so I finally found a use for our twitter account! If all goes well, this post should also be displayed on our shiny new twitter feed.
Go ahead and follow our twitter for notifications of when news on the website appear, as well as other small teasers and updates exclusive to twitter!

Also, we are still working on the server but we've been delayed a bit. Hope for early 2016!  :D

Announcements / Sneak preview!
« on: November 03, 2015, 03:29:52 AM »
So, here's a bit of proof that we're not just banging rocks together over here. We are working on a hub (among other things), in fact it is nearing completion!

(Right-click and view image in new tab to see full size)

Also I should mention that this is the order in which things will be released.
  • Base Server (hub, factions with koth, and creative) - End of November/early December
  • CakeCade (a collection of minigames in a infinite playlist) - Late December to Early 2016
  • Friends and Party system (add friends, make a party, stay in the same server as them: cross server compatible) - ASAP after CakeCade is released
  • CakeRPG (full RPG server with custom items and spells) - After minecraft 1.9 is released, work will begin. Completion is estimated April 2016 at the earliest.
So, get hyped!

Announcements / Donation Goals for December
« on: December 09, 2014, 08:35:44 PM »
This month, we're going to do a kickstarter-like donation goals system to where if a certain amount of donations is reached, a feature gets added or an event happens on the server. This will hopefully be a better donation incentive, and will help to improve the server each month.

The donations are currently at: $100.

You can view a more up-to-date amount on the buycraft page.

The goals are as follows:
  • $27+?5 - Breaking even. Meaning, we have payed the full amount of server fees for the month. REACHED
  • $30 - A series of 3 drop parties, spread out across the day the donation goal is reached. REACHED
  • $40 - A new banner will be created for the server. This will show up on pmc, and other server lists. REACHED
  • $50 - At $50 we will extend the world border from 10k to 15k, to encourage more exploration. REACHED
  • $75 - New pvp kits are added once we reach $75, decided by the players of the server. REACHED, not added yet.
  • $100 - At $100 we will develop an entirely new gamemode, such as a minigame or other server, decided on by the players. REACHED, leave suggestions for this new gamemode in the suggestions section.
I may also do something like this for votes, but the "every 50 votes = a drop party" seems to be working well enough for now.
Feel free to suggest donation goals, we may just accept them!

Happy minecrafting!

Announcements / Moderation Rework - Discussion and Suggestions
« on: October 28, 2014, 10:11:44 PM »
Okay, it's been made clear to me that the moderation system doesn't seem to be perfect. While we have good mods, many have said we have too much, etc. I've been busy for the last few weeks and probably the next few weeks to come, so I've decided to take a more community driven approach to this problem. Post suggestions on how you think the moderation system can be improved, and I'll implement the best ideas. This includes things like mod specific rules, what permissions (see this for some more info) so they should have, and ranks moderation should be split up into.

Ideas that are implemented or accepted will be in this post, updated below:

  • Most of yoshirider's suggestions.
  • Some others
